Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze mortgage loan applications to determine eligibility and risk.
- Evaluate borrower’s creditworthiness, employment history, income stability, and other relevant factors.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including TRID, RESPA, and HMDA.
- Verify accuracy and completeness of loan documentation.
- Communicate decisions and provide explanations to loan officers and processing.
- Collaborate with loan processors to resolve any outstanding issues or conditions.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a mortgage underwriter.
- Strong understanding of mortgage lending guidelines and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in loan underwriting software (e.g., Encompass).
- DE and SAR (preferred).
- Bilingual (preferred).

- Evaluate income, credit, and assets to provide applicants with accurate Pre-Approval.
- Update preapproval for applicants when needed.
